Caroline successfully reoriented her carrier from psychologist (in France) to lactaction counselor and post-partum doula here in San Francisco (we live on Potrero Hill).

I'm obviously biased, but I think she's doing a terrific job at reusing her previous skills to be the best support to parents, especially the mother. And you know how the right help can be beneficial to the well-being of the entire family.

Sure, she knows how to care about a newborn, and can make you happy by preparing a healthy meal, but her real added value in her listening skills and ability to understand exactly what you need even if you don't know it yourself.

Check-out her website about postpartum doula and lactation counselor in San Francisco and spread the word to new parents :-)

Magic Johnson says he and Isiah Thomas,"haven't talked. If that day comes, then we'll sit down and talk. But if that day doesn't come, then it doesn't come. We've both got a lot to do. I got a lot to do with my business and he has a lot to do to get his college coaching career off the ground. I wish him well. It's too bad that it has to come to this, but sometimes that's what happens in life."

I suppose it happens sometimes, but then again he did write a book which supposedly has plenty of stories about Isiah being a dick and even if it's true that still might have pissed off Isiah a bit.

Here's hoping I still know and accept the consequences of when I kick someone where it hurts (which I have done. . .figuratively speaking).

Biked out to Kawasaki to meet up with Fumiaki and watch the Dark Knight in Imax. It's been almost thirty years since I crossed the Tamagawa on a bicycle, but the ride was great. Here's a shot of Tokyo from the Kanagawa (Kawasaki) side. In front of all the baseball diamonds are a row of blue tarp housing set up by the homeless. Hope there are no floods this year.

Safeco Field and Qwest Field

I’ve finally (for myself) took some time off at work to take a trip to the west coast to go to Safeco and AT+T and to of course visit friends and family. Seattle is beautiful as usual, but I really was not looking forward to the flight over.

The aisle seat was close to the back of the plane, which mean the bathroom was close so standing up to get some walking and stretching in would not be a problem. Seated at the back right of the plane was a young Japanese girl and an elder American guy. They were having a conversation in English and because they were seated pretty close I heard about half the conversation. It seemed the guy was kinda of weird and overly friendly, but I didn’t think much of it. Especially since she was drinking the drinks he was giving her (in hindsight I realize she was worried about being impolite and didn’t know how to say no).

That is until, I saw that the girl was trying to get him off of her and he was trying to smooch her. She got out of the seat somehow and I told the FA that there was something weird going on in that seat. The FA had already noticed and had already prepared for the girl (who I later found out was under age) to move up to the front of the plane without returning to her seat. They asked for my personal info for their report. How swiftly they moved on this after they saw something happening (and without causing a fuss) and the thank you speech I got from them makes me wonder what kind of incidents they see on the plane.

近非常に気にし始めた、「大丈夫」の使い方。使い方によっては「あなたこそ大丈夫？」って言われることに。最近はとりあえず「大丈夫」以外の言葉を使うようにしている。

久しぶりの長期有給でアメリカに来ています。飛行機が嫌いだけど、今回はそんなのを忘れるようなフライト。後ろの方に座っていたけど、さらに後ろの席でアメリカのおじさんが日本人の女性と異様に仲良くしている。きもいおじさんだなと思っていたけど、会話も続いていたから特に気にしていなかった。トイレに行く時にパッと目に入っていたのが、いやがっている彼女の腕を握っていてキスをしようとするおじさん。フライトアテンダントに伝えて彼女も席替え出来るように。その状況から逃げた彼女に思わずかけた最初の一言、「大丈夫？」。駄目だ、まだまだ未熟だ。。。
